DDI Milestones

Sky Jeepney

The Sky Jeepney is the culmination of almost 3 decades of  DDI's vehicle design experience. It represents the future of mass transportation in the Philippines. As a touring bus, its upper deck allows for the best vantage point to take in the beauty of our nation. As a mode of transport, it is specially designed for our roads and our infrastructure, and able to carry more passengers within a smaller vehicle footprint, offering a practical solution to heavy traffic and insufficient public transport. As a business platform, it offers unique...[Read More]

With DDI's proven track record of developing store systems solutions for clients ranging from multinational corporations and big warehouse retailers, it was only natural that the company would begin working with one of the fastest growing retail brands in the Philippines: Puregold. DDI was tasked with designing checkout counters that increase the speed and efficiency with which transactions are processed while remaining durable enough to stay in service for many years to come. The resulting design has been successful enough to be deployed in every new Puregold outlet since 2007,...[Read More]

The Fort Bus

Building on the experience and success of the AX Series bus body, DDI was next commissioned to build the coaches for the Fort Bus (now rebranded as the BGC Bus). The rugged and reliable AX Series body was slightly modified and fit over a Mercedes Benz bus chassis. The resulting vehicle with its distinct livery has become an icon to those who live and work in the BGC area, and will continue to be so for many years to come.[Read More]

Florida Bus

In 2007, DDI was commissioned by the Del Monte Motors Corporation to conceptualize and design a bus body that would be durable and versatile while remaining economically practical to mass produce. The layout and design of  what was to become the AX Series bus was crafted with the help of computer aided design (CAD) technology, before being constructed as a scale model and then a full-size body mock-up. With all the details finalized, fabrication, production, and assembly was done at the Del Monte Motors plant in Quezon City. Today, these vehicles continue to...[Read More]

Johnson & Johnson Reach Power Brush

After the success of DDI's work on Johnson & Johnson's Kids' Shampoo bottle, the company was then commissioned to work on several more product design projects. Among the most significant was a redesign of their Reach Power Toothbrush . DDI incorporated many improvements and ergonomic features that made the product more effective and easier to use. The redesigned Power Brush was so successful that it was distributed and sold by Johnson & Johnson across the globe.[Read More]

Johnson & Johnson Kids Shampoo Container

In the mid-Nineties, Johnson & Johnson Asia Pacific commissioned 200 designers to submit proposals for their redesigned Kids' Shampoo line. Traditional upright shampoo bottles with their covers on top were routinely being left open by children, leading to the contamination of the product. DDI Founder Mark Victor Bautista worked with Johnson & Johnson's Beth MacDonald on a time-and-motion study with parents and their children ages 4 to 8-years old to develop an upside-down shampoo bottle with a large, easy-grip cap. DDI's submission landed in the top 10 concepts chosen for the final...[Read More]

Mitsubishi L300 FB

The Mitsubishi L300 FB has been one of the most ubiquitous vehicles on Philippine roads for more than two decades. The versatile body design now made famous by thousands of school buses and delivery vehicles was created by DDI under commission of the Almazora Motors Corporation in 1994. The company reached out to DDI after having their previous five body proposals rejected by Mitsubishi Motors. The changes implemented by DDI included the installation of rubber lining to prevent water seepage, and a redesign of the seat benches to create more flexibility in...[Read More]

Double Deck Mobile Home

The Double Deck Mobile Home was designed and built for the family of businessman Fred Elizalde. The vehicle was christened 'Hobbit II', as it was built to go on many a rugged outdoor adventure while providing all the comfort and amenities of home. Nothing like it before or since has been seen on Philippine roads. A true double deck design, the lessons learned on this project would be put to good use in the conceptualization, planning, and construction of the Sky Jeepney.[Read More]
